The length of time with conventional treatment for this disease is six months to a year of very aggressive medical management which includes anti-inflammatory/analgesics, vasodilators, cryotherapy and physical therapeutics along with requiring a Farrier to trim and balance the Palmar Angle

Even after taking all these conventional measures, there are still no guarantees that the animal will ever completely recover.  The costs to treat this disease with conventional treatment ranges from $1,000 to $12,000 dollars and still, some 70% of cattle and horses have recurrent bouts and a good deal are euthanized.

In 2007 by design, fate, or law of probability; GMT designed a specific protocol for cattle and horses suffering from laminitis.  An employee of GMT who reasoned that if this worked for inflammation, it might also work on his Paso Fino horse suffering from laminitis at the time. Thus marked the beginning of testing the PCI-1 for Laminitis, which was modified for veterinarian use on horses suffering from different degrees of Laminitis and Founders Disease.  Founders is the culmination of laminitis whereby the pedal bone detaches from the laminae while rotating and protruding through the bottom of the sole and dislodging from the hoof; a death sentence for any animal.

Much to the surprise of everyone, the results were unparalleled in comparison to any current form of treatment.  Not only did the horses recover much quicker than with conventional treatment, but they suffered no noticeable negative aftereffects in their gate or posture. It appeared complete recovery had been achieved.  It was noted that if treatments were commenced within the first week of lameness a horse would make a complete recovery with 3-6 treatment within 5 to 10 days at a cost of just $300 to $600 dollars.
